John Steinbeck

      John Ernst Steinbeck Jr. was born, February 27, 1902,

 in Salinas, California. His father, John Ernst Steinbeck,

 was the Monterey County Treasurer. His mother, Olive

 Hamilton, was a former school teacher. John Steinbeck

published the novel, Of Mice and Men, in the year 1937.

 In the year 1962, Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize in

Literature. Then six year later John Steinbeck died in ,New

 York City, New York, on December 20, 1968. In

 Steinbeck's life, he wrote twenty-seven books, sixteen

 novels, 6 six non-fiction, and five collections of short

 stories.
